1,528 raised for Cancer Research

AUGUST 2007

The 5 kilometre (3.1 miles) Race for Life nationwide event is a woman and girls only race to raise funds for Cancer Research UK each year. This year Dukes entered a team and we would like to send out a big thank you and well done to all of the ladies who took part in this fund raising event at Tatton Park. A fantastic amount was raised for this very worthwhile cause and all who took part with their high spirits should feel very proud of their achievements.

  • 2 of our team finished in the first 10, considering there were over 3000 entrants this was an excellent accomplishment.
  • Our youngest team member was just 5 years old.
  • Our best fundraiser raised £300 individually, well done.

After the race had ended, the ladies were treated to a fabulous buffet kindly prepared and organised by the Directors. The variety of food was lovely together with the chilled refreshments. Despite the horrific weather since mid June, the rain clouds stayed away long enough for us to finish the race and enjoy the picnic in dry conditions.

A wonderful day was had by all.
