Dukes Bailiffs Limited, the Staffordshire based business whose Managing Director Colin Naylor is elected chairman of the Association of Civil Enforcement Agencies, has been working successfully with Stockport Council since July 2008 on Council Tax and NDR liability order collection.
Dukes was one of 6 companies appointed after a formal tender process undertaken by the Greater Manchester Bailiff Consortium involving no fewer than nine local authorities and its performance for Stockport Council has recently resulted in a contract renewal for a further 12 months within an overall 10 year agreement.
Councillor Sue Derbyshire, Stockport Council’s Executive Member for Finance, said: “As a Council we have a very good collection rate for Council Tax - among the best in the North West. The Council has a very good working relationship with Dukes Bailiffs Limited. They provide a thoroughly professional service and deal with any queries promptly.”
The Council and the bailiffs work in partnership to deliver on the specific collections rate targets they are set.
The authority is committed to working with debtors to try and find affordable solutions to pay their Council Tax.
The role of the bailiff, as an agent of the authority, will remain vital in helping to achieve a balance between the statutory requirement to collect debt and the capabilities of individuals to meet their debts.
